Spatial and Temporal Evaluation of Water Streams Using Quality Indexes: A Case Study

The present study aimed to analyze the spatial–temporal variation of water streams using Quality Indexes Minas Gerais Institute Water Management (WQI-IGAM), compared with physical–chemical and biological variables established by CONAMA Resolution 357/2005 employed for classification. A stream in city Cachoeira-Alta, State Goiás, Brazil was used as a case study. Four sampling points along course were planned; at each point, dissolved oxygen (DO), temperature (T) hydrogen potential (pH) analyzed, portable equipment, samples collected laboratory analyses total phosphorus (TP), biochemical demand (BOD), nitrogen (TN), turbidity (Turb), residues (TR) thermotolerant coliforms (TC). waters classified poor quality relation TP TC. class 3 results TP, 2 BOD TC 1 other variables, according 357/2005. It is expected that watershed management bodies will have greater concern supervision these resources, requiring protection riparian forests adequate watersheds.
